Before you can begin working as a dealer in any casino in Louisiana, or any other state, you must be properly licensed. In Louisiana this process is run by the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement. Licensees are required to complete a Non-Key Gaming Employee Permit Application. Additionally, your fingerprints will be taken and a thorough background check will be conducted. Any discrepancies will result in your gaming license being rejected.
Although licensees are subject to the provisions set forth in LA RS 27:28 Suitability Standards, "[a] conviction or plea of guilty or nolo contendere by the applicant shall not constitute an automatic disqualification as otherwise required" as "[the] board and division may consider the seriousness and circumstances of any offense, any arrest, or any conviction in determining suitability". You must satisfactorily resolve these issues prior to applying for a gaming license. Do not wait until you are offered a job before resolving these matters. YOU WILL NOT BE HIRED and in some cases you will have to wait up to six months before applying again.
1 In each of these instances you must be current AND be able to document that fact, before you can obtain your license.
2 You will be unable to re-apply for your license for 6 months.
